David is a self-taught photographer based in Nottingham, UK. His photography explores the relationship between work, leisure, and landscape in post-industrial communities.
David is drawn to subjects that reflect his experiences as the son of a coal miner growing up in Mansfield. Depictions of these communities often focus on deprivation and hardship, but while it’s important not to gloss over the corrosive effects of deindustrialisation, he believe it’s equally important to celebrate the cultural lives of working class people.
David's work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, VICE and The British Journal of Photography.
